Ideas for advocating for Seniors in your everyday life
- Music During an Important Year:
Sit down with your parents or grandparents and ask what year they met. Then, google "top 100 songs" from that year. As you begin playing the songs one by one, watch the memories come flooding back. - Grocery Run and Storytelling
Ask your elderly neighbor if you can grab anything for them at the grocery store when you go. And when you deliver the items to her, stay a minute. Maybe ask her something about her childhood. - The Older Couple
When you see an older couple in public, at a restaurant or the store, strike up a conversation. Ask them how long they've been together and then ask them how they met. Let them tell you their story. I mean, you could flip through your Instagram for 5 mindless minutes, or, you could allow people to feel seen, heard and valued. - Share a Compliment
Standing in line at the grocery store, tell an older man or woman how beautiful they look. Simple...really.
